Australia ease through to men's basketball final
Australia easily accounted for Scotland 103-46 in the first men's basketball semifinal at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, securing a berth in Sunday's gold medal match.
Australia's victory was built on outstanding perimeter defensive pressure, which held Scotland scoreless for over eight minutes bridging the first and second quarters.
On the offensive end, Jesse Wagstaff’s 17 points led a balanced Boomers attack that included five players scoring in double figures and a 62 per cent success rate from three-point range.
"We really go 12 deep and that's the beauty," Flagstaff said of the Boomers' efforts. "We play pretty up-tempo and it takes a lot out of you, so we've got 12 and we rotate them through so no-one's playing 35 minutes."
The winner of the semifinal between New Zealand and Canada will meet Australia in the final on Sunday, while Scotland will meet the loser to play for bronze.
